WVSHA Awards

 WVSHA has four awards that can be presented to its members or individuals who have shown exemplary effort in some area of communication disorders.
Any member of the Association may submit a candidate to the President of the Association for submission to the Honors Committee.
 
The following is an explanation of each WVSHA Honor
 
Honors of the Association: This is awarded to members of the Association who have provided significant and long term contributions to the West Virginia Speech-Language-Hearing Association, such as serving as a member of the Executive Board or on committees. The Honors Committee may recommend this honor for approval of the Executive Board after review of two written recommendations and a documented review of the service of the individual to the Association. This award is a certificate.
 
Clinical Honors of the Association: This is awarded to members of the Association who have distinguished themselves in the fields of Speech-Language Therapy, Audiology, Deaf Education or Speech and Hearing Sciences. This distinction may come in the form of long term service in those fields, exemplary service in those fields, or development of significant contributions to that field. The Honors Committee may recommend this honor for approval of the Executive Board after review of three written recommendations and a documented review of the clinical service to these fields. This award is a certificate and may include a financial award as determined by the Executive Board.
 
Presidential Award: This is awarded to individuals who have provided a beneficial service to the Association or to the fields of Speech-Language Therapy, Audiology, Deaf Education or Speech and Hearing Sciences. This is awarded by the President of the Association and is a certificate.
 
Any member wishing to submit a candidate for any of these awards can do so by  utilizing the connected form and submitting it to the President of the Association.
 
Connie Breza Legislator of The Year:  This award is given to individuals working in an elected capacity who has worked to better the cause of those with communication disorders.
