Thank you for supporting the professions through your annual WVSHA membership. Your active membership demonstrates your commitment to WVSHA’s  mission to serve and advocate for needs of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and deaf educators and those individuals with communication disorders who are served.

What does your annual WVSHA membership fee really buy?

  • WVSHA member registration discounts for all WVSHA continuing education programs and conferences.

  • Web resources, including newsletters, a career center area, an online membership directory, clinical resource links, legislation action alerts, professional documents, links to Executive Board members, FAQs, and occasional e-mail blasts announcing time-sensitive issues.

  • Networking opportunities through forums, conference attendance, committee/council/project involvement, and access to colleagues through the online membership directory.

  • Legislative advocacy and effective representation to West Virginia lawmakers and the West Virginia Department of Education

  • Your presence in decision-making that impacts our professions through your involvement in the WVSHA annual business meeting at Convention, committee or task involvement, and the opportunity to serve on the WVSHA Committees and Executive Boards.

  • Access to ASHA networks and liaisons such as the State Education Advocacy Leaders (SEAL), the State Advocates for Reimbursement (STAR), the State Medicare Administrative Contractor (SMAC) and our State ASHA liaison.


Lifetime Membership

In order to apply for lifetime membership in WVSHA the following criteria must be met:


4. Any professional member who has retired from fulltime employment and who has held membership for the ten consecutive years immediately prior to applying for life membership may apply for and receive life membership with all privileges of a professional member. A life member, who has retired from full time gainful employment or is disabled, may apply for a waiver of annual dues.

5. Any professional member who has held membership for ten consecutive years immediately prior to application for life membership and periodically submits satisfactory evidence of total disability may receive life membership with all the privileges of a professional member. Annual dues shall be waived.
